Past, Present, Future

PAST:

When I started this site, it was with the intention of being a fun, fashion blog.

Almost immediately, I started my October Outfits 2021 project where I posted a different movie character outfit recreation every day that month.

There was a set of posts about my Thrift Store Scores from my one-and-only in-person secondhand shopping splurge of the past few years.

Another few posts showcased my Outfit of the Day (OOTD) looks, and some of those were callbacks to specific pieces I scored at the thrift store.

In 2022, I did another October Outfits project with a movie cosplay a day.

Then, there were recap posts detailing behind-the-scenes activities explaining how I did things.

Lately, the posts have focused on DIY projects and organization.

PRESENT:

Currently, I’m just coming out of a few hectic months where I was going to a lot of doctor appointments, dealing with the passing of a kidney stone, and doing weekly physical therapy for other health issues.

While I was disappointed that 2023 brought such unexpected chaos and thwarted my intentions for this site, I am prioritizing my health so that I may continue to (hopefully) post something weekly on here going forward.

FUTURE:

I plan to do another cosplay character creation a day for my third October Outfits project.

There will be more DIY posts as I continue to revamp my space.

I also hope to spotlight some upcycling projects as I make new things from other things.

Since I realized I only mentioned my participation in ColorWeek in one post here, I will share my previous photos and my new ones for this year. (ColorWeek was the catalyst for the creation of Thrifty Subversion!)

I am also considering posting more OOTD fashions from both my current and past looks.

What You Can Do to Help:

Up first, I want to thank you for reading my posts. Whether this is your first one or your 50th, I appreciate you taking the time to check out what I’m doing. 🥰

Secondly, I wanna give a special shoutout to my subscribers! Every time I get a new one, it gives me another little boost of inspiration and confidence to continue. 😘

It would help me out tremendously if you would share my site with someone and recommend they give Thrifty Subversion a follow. I’m a one-person show without any budget for marketing so word of mouth is crucial to reach more people. 💕

Follow me elsewhere on your site of choice: Pinterest, Instagram, and Tik Tok. I hope to post more consistently on them when I get back into the groove. 📲

This WordPress site will remain free without paywalled posts, but if you’re in a good place financially right now, all donations and paid subscriptions will help fund future posts and projects. 💰

And last but not least, anyone who purchases something for me off my wishlist will get access to unique images from a photoshoot with the item(s). (Just include your email address/contact information in the note of where you’d like them sent.) 💌

As a bonus: Leave a comment on this post letting me know why you started following, what has been your favorite post, and/or what you’d love to see more of moving forward. Kind and constructive comments are always welcome! ✍️

The top right is a three image collage of cosplay outfits for Lydia Deetz, Carrie White, and Donnie Darko. The middle left is the multi-colored background with white words that say Thrifty Subversion. The middle right is the DIYed RUBBISH shirt with supplies on it. The bottom left is a DIYed set of tiger eye necklace and earrings. The next image on the bottom is an OOTD post of a pale person with faded blue hair in a black dress with black and orange striped tights and the words THRIFTY SUBVERSION vertically on the sides. The next image on the bottom is an abstract background with the words Thrift Store Score. The final image in the bottom right is of The Wig Wall.

Catch me back here next week for another post.

In the meantime, check out my Pinterest.
